It's the end of the year and I'm not sure where the time has gone!
It's also the time of year that I get to reflect on not only what The Dog Mentor has achieved in the last 12 months but also since we started all those years ago with Jock and a dream of helping every child and young adult (along with the staff that work with them, of course) to build a healthy relationship with a dog and learn how to look after it's welfare.
The numbers on the image speak for themselves - The Dog Mentor has grown into something so amazing and I learn something new every day from all of the people, dogs and education settings that I visit.
It's been a busy year for the whole team and I can't thank them enough, especially Ell. From the conference to the CPDs and all the amazing resources and support you provide, it wouldn't happen without what you do.
There are of course lots of other people to thank so I'll try and name a few... Paul, Natalie, Kerry, Andrea, Hannah, Mirena, Di, Gemma (both of you!), Jo and Sofia - you've all given something special throughout the year and I really hope that continues into next year and beyond. My friends and family are very special to me and put up with lots of Dog Mentor talk at almost every waking moment!
We've just started our research programme with the University of Lincoln after a scary but very rewarding presentation at ISAZ2024 so thanks to all the team there for the advice and support you've given me.
Our fantastic suppliers are quite varied and spread all over the country but one that needs the most thanks is of course Susan from The Prancing Dog who makes all of our coats and bandanas (along with assorted other special projects), supported by Pippa and Vivienne. They've made more than 660 coats since we found them!
Finally, my heartfelt thanks must go to all the humans and their very special Dog Mentors that have joined the programme. They amazing work you do impacts the lives of thousands of people all over the UK. Your dedication to your work makes me feel so proud and I can't wait to welcome even more next year!
Merry Christmas to you all. I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas and New Year 🧡.
